Zz uses charcoal and pan pastel to explore the universality of memory and loss as the haunting paradox of the human condition. The composite figures in her work are often caught in moments of isolation and reflection, offering scenes that feel both familiar but intangible. She uses deliberate brushstrokes to create a poetic delicacy uncovering light within the paper using negative space and contrast. Her work mines the tension of reflective grief that layers past and present upon itself creating a multidimensional mirror of space and time and the human experience of dancing with ghosts. The emotional tenor is heightened by a pervasive melancholy that invites the viewer to imprint their own lived experience within the inescapable erosion of time and flesh.
Zz lives and works in Los Angeles, CA, and studied Photography and Marketing at Emerson College in Boston, MA. Her work has been included in exhibitions at The Holy Art, New York, NY; Open Studios, Los Angeles, CA; among others.
